CONSERVING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES

Jagels Farms is focused on doing our part in conserving our region’s natural resources. We strive to continue to carry on the tradition of leaving the land we farm in better shape than what we started with for future generations.

SOIL. We utilize no till and strip till planting, which conserves the runoff residue of the soil, therefore decreasing the water and fertilizer needed to replenish the soil.

WATER. All of our center pivots have sensors installed that tell us how much water is available in the ground at any given time. We also utilize water meters on our wells, so we can monitor how much water we are using and adjust accordingly.

GRAZING. Rotational grazing is a main focus in our cow/calf operation, where we utilize the grass in small paddocks and rotate the cows and calves every 5-8 days, allowing the grass to rest and enhancing the different grass species in the pasture.
